Leonard Babcock reminiscences, with letter to the History Company : Santa Barbara, Calif., 1889 July 26.

Recollections of his journey to California, 1849 (part of the way with the "Jayhawkers" in the wagon train led by Jefferson Hunt); arrival in Los Angeles over the CajoĢn Pass; experiences enroute to and in the mines; return to St. Louis via the Isthmus; removal to Santa Barbara. Notes and copy of document relating to the first freeing of negro slaves in Missouri, 1863, included.
